THE Product/ Wye River Buffet
Luke, Tanya and the rest of the Bombora team, are very proud to call Geelong and the Surf Coast their home and this connection fueled the concept behind their piece. They wanted to convey all that they love about their beautiful local environment with the piece inspired by those perfect summer days at the beach when the sand and sea blend into each other and the sun creates an almost dreamlike state. The furniture piece used as the canvas and the frame for the painting is Bomboras Wye river buffet which fed perfectly into their charity of choice, the Spirit Foundation. This charity is filling in the gaps in government funding to support the communities in Wye river and Separation creek effected by the 2015 Christmas day fires. The foundations next project is to provide funding to assist in an upgrade of the first aid facilities at the Wye River lifesaving club.

THE MAKER/ Luke Collins, BOMBORA CUSTOM FURNITURE
The Bombora aesthetic would be described as down to earth, timeless and created to make the beautiful timber the focus.“Our design ethos is fed by our environmentally conscious philosophy” explains Alison Collins, one half of the creative couple at the helm of Bombora “we want our pieces to fit into a modern home now but also in 40 years time. We want our pieces to be passed down to the next generation rather than into hard rubbish. This philosophy influences our design style, our very high standards of workmanship and also our client collaboration process to ensure that the piece is a perfect fit for them.” Each Bombora piece is made to order by a team of 4 passionate furniture makers in their workshop in Torquay on the Victorian Surf Coast.

the Charity/ Spirit Foundation
The Spirit Foundation was initially established as a Charitable Trust to support fundraising activities on behalf of Casey Tutungi after an on-field injury left him quadriplegic. The activities of the Trust were extended in 2014 to provide support at a time of need to another important member of our Lorne “family”, Michael “Camel” Callanan. In 2015, the trust launched an appeal for the Wye River and Separation Creek communities that were devastated by bushfires and the charity is currently raising funds for the refurbishment of the first aid room and the lifesaving club to ensure they well prepared for future emergencies.
